Free Essay On Change And The World Changed For You

What is one thing you would like to change about the world?

I would like to change peer pressure, because now a day teenagers and even adults are making lots of mistakes because of peer pressure. Also for individuals to respect each other, not criticize or make fun of someone because of their beliefs, skin tone, etc. Also I would do something for kids who are being bullied because they suffer a lot and sometimes they can’t or they are too afraid to tell someone. Another issue would be health; many go for fast food and are working at offices without having physical activity causing more heart attacks, diabetes, and others.

The main thing I would change is the judgment people have towards each other. If you don't like a certain person, you aren't forced to be with them. Some people can't completely be non-judgmental; society has formed certain images and judges others who don't fit. I personally also have to remind myself not to judge others. "Judge not, and you will not be judged."

Meagan V., Early College High School

If I could change anything in the world I would want to change how people always turn to violence to solve their issues. Violence is a serious situation that has gotten us into nothing but trouble because we are always trying to resolve matters that may or may not concern us.

If I could change one thing in the world I would change the prices of gas mainly for the reason that when I am able to drive that gas won’t be so expensive; it would also benefit many other people. Even though it would be great to have cheaper gas, changing the price would have a drastic effect of the United States' economy.

If there is anything I could change in the whole wide world, it would be the lunch food they serve at school. It tastes pretty bad and it makes me sick once in a while. There are times when I prefer to starve myself to death instead of eating the food that is served. To top it off, I have to pay for that food. So if there is anything I could change in this whole wide world, it would be the lunch food. That would bring me (and a whole lot of other people) peace.

If there was one thing I could change about our world it would be that those that have been separated from their loved ones would be able to reunite.

Diana F., Early College High School

If I could change one thing about our world, it would be to create everyone equal. Between sexes, race, and social background, people don't have the equality of opportunity. As an adolescent, I hear debates on the news about how our government should be ruled and who should run it. I honestly believe if there was equality to begin with, our history would have changed dramatically! Everyone shouldn't be the same; we should just have equality for our individuality and uniqueness.

Lacie Schwerin, San Perlita High School

One thing I would love to change about the world would be the people. People now a day can be so harsh and evil. People need to learn to keep bad comments to themselves. They need to think about what they say before they say it. They don't understand how their actions can affect the people around them. It’s because of the people that the economy is so messed up. We are our own worst enemies.

Kayla Garces, Weslaco High School

There are many things in this world that I would like to change, but one thing that would mean a lot to me if it were changed would be college being free. If we were to get an education for free, things would be so much easier. Everyone would be able to get an education and wouldn’t have to worry about financial problems and having to pay for it. Our world would better be suited because having an education would mean that everyone would have a job, therefore, have money and be better off.

Aisha Zurita, Weslaco High School

If I had the opportunity to change the world I would change on how we spend so much time concentrating on these so called celebrities instead of the people that actually do something useful to the world. Our society is so messed up because everything we concentrate on is celebrities and their lives; there not even a good example. There kids out there who think dressing half naked is cool, it’s not. We need to concentrate on better people like our president or even the people that are trying to create things to help us live and want us to have a better world.

Michael Mendez, Weslaco High School

One thing that I would change about this world would be that fact that we have Obama in office. He is running the U.S. into the ground. He has made policies that are completely ridiculous and they are completely unfair to all of the working class people in America. Obama will some be back to normal once Obama is out of office! Democrats are very mislead and I hope the can get past that.

Clayton Neuhaus, Weslaco High School

If I could do anything to change the world, I would get rid of hunger. I've always hated seeing someone hungry. It makes me feel sad since I'm always eating. I would go all around the world and take food for those that need it. I would make a charity here in the U.S. so that I would be able to take more food than just what I can afford. That way it’s not only me helping, but also everyone cooperating.

Taking out diseases for multiple reasons, and one would be that many people get sick from these awful microscopic killing machines, which really does an effect on us by lowering the population of the world by catastrophic disasters. Just think if diseases were to be taken away everything would be so healthy, as in there wouldn’t be need for any type of medicine, except for those who make you go to sleep or numb someplace in your body. The world as we know it would change dramatically and human life would last longer probably by another 10 years.

Zeke Munoz, Weslaco High School

I'd like to change the obsession with technology in our modern day world. The typical American's day is consumed so much by technology like smart phones, tablets, and laptops. We spend so much time with our faces glued to the bright little screens! We've become anti-social. At a restaurant, I see people sitting down at the table with their attention completely on their phones and not on the people sitting next to them. We should spend more time bonding with the people we care about. Technology is great for educational purposes but we have to recognize our limits.

Katlyn Kuruda, Weslaco High School

The one thing I would change about our world is our views towards other races and genders. The United States is fine with its treatment of other races and genders, but everywhere there is still discrimination against other races, cultures, and even other genders, and I would want to change it to make everyone more tolerant towards other things.

Robert Ozias III, Weslaco High School

I would change many things about the world. But I think a main one would be our equality. Not as in our race or our social classes, but mainly our physical appearance and characteristics. Too many kids get made fun of what they look like or what kind of things they like. People should not be made fun of for things they cannot change or control. Although, some people are mean and ugly people mentally, and those people I do not feel bad for. I feel bad for the innocent ones who live their life crying for just being themselves.

Mariah Torres, Weslaco High School

The one thing I would like to change in the world is violence. Violence is the one thing in this world we don't really need, and the world would be a better place if there were peace then war, gangs, druggies, and tyrants. All of these things are categories of violence. These words should be wiped off the face of the earth and never come again. We are going through a crisis right now with Syria. President Obama thinks we should use violence to solve this. Violence is not the answer for everything we have to change this soon.

Ashley Gonzalez, Weslaco High School

If I could change anything in the world it would be cigarettes. I would stop production because they are very dangerous to your health and mind. Before cigars were considered cool and were all over the place including television and movies, but now we know it for the disgusting habit it really is. Side effects to smoking are lung cancer and many other sicknesses and getting rid of them also stops kids from doing it so that's what I think.

Eduardo Ramos, Weslaco High School

Teacher: Jean Bovee

Something I would change about the world is how closed-minded people are and the way they apply stereotypes to one another. People say they have this strong belief in being equal or treating each other equally, then contradict that statement completely. If someone so much as does something in a different matter than you do, or differently than what the norm is, people see that person as unusual and treat them without respect or unequally. Everyone is human and shouldn't be judged for the way they see or do things, let alone be closed-minded about different ideas.

Jacqueline Cantu, Weslaco High School

If I could change anything in the world it would be to change the war. I don’t agree with the war. I wish we didn’t have to go to war because too many innocent people die during the war. I think we should go to every last resort before going to war. We shouldn’t have to get allies to gang up on different countries. We should fight our own battles through words and agreements. Wars will hurt countries economically, socially, physically and mentally. Should we really risk all those things to try being the best or to seem like we are the best?

Audrey Fann, Weslaco High School

If I could change anything in the world I would change the prices of everything. Everything cost so much everywhere you go no matter what it is. Even the cost of food is going up. If the prices were lower there is a possibility that the economy would go up. We would live a better life because we would be able to afford the things that we need.

Adell Cavazos, Weslaco High School

Something I would like to change in the world is how much control social media has on people. How much we use social media affects us greatly; often changes us in negative ways. The things people do to get attention on social media is disappointing. How much people care about the social media is too much compared to how much they care to important things, like education? Another thing I would like to change is how people are too entertained with celebrities’ lives. Celebrities have too much influence on today’s people. Knowing this, celebrities still do things inappropriate and unnecessary.

Randy Loera, Weslaco High School

Teacher: Jean Bovee

There are crazy unnecessary things going throughout this world. Per say, wars over things that could be shared. Our world happens to always be politically correct and deciding things for people instead of doing things independently. World peace would be a great way to reconcile with every one and all the continents. Judgment has a big toll on everybody! People judge plenty on appearance. That's what causes suicides, and unnecessary incidents. We should all come together and make the world go round instead of going about badgering people about being better in and at everything. Life is not a competition; life is to be enjoyed with the people who matter the most. So let’s put down the guns and start shaking a hand! Bring joy to this world and find your joy.

Shawnee Gosset, Weslaco High School

I would change the secrecy between the government and the people of the United States. The government would be forced to tell us that aliens exist and no one would panic or freak out. It would be nice for them to finally tell us some truth. Thus, we could all have an alien friend who would tell us the secrets of the world.

I'd like to change a couple of things about our world like for example, to stop the factories from releasing air pollution into the air we breathe and need, trash being thrown at beautiful areas that we cherish, and the drug use from teens like me. I'm more interested on the fact about cancer taking our loved ones away, not just here in Texas but all around the world. In just a couple of second’s boom, someone'seither fighting for their life or dying. So, I'm hoping that one day someone can find a cure or even me, so that our world can be in a more undramatic place.

Jennifer J. Miranda, Weslaco High School

One thing I'd change in the world today is monetary value. People all around the world are crazy for money, it's like an addiction to them, but it's something I feel we could change. It would be a good idea to use money as a back up so we could do achievable chores or tasks to trade with in place of money. It would lessen the crime and robbery rate all across the world. Money could be used when the achievabletasks or chores pale in comparison to the product offered, sort of as a sweetener to complete any transaction.

If I could change anything in the world it would be to change war. I don’t agree with war. I wish we didn’t have to have war because too many innocent people die during war. I think we should go to every last resort before going to war. We shouldn’t have to get allies to gang up on different countries. We should fight our own battles through words and agreements. Wars will hurt countries economically, socially, physically and mentally. We shouldn’t risk all those things just to try being the best or to seem like we are the best.

I think I would like to end animal cruelty. Animals are just like us humans. They also deserve a home and deserve to be treated with respect and love. I think that if someone has a pet, it should be their responsibility to care and nurture it just like a baby. They don't deserve to be tested on or to be abused. I do realize that it would be hard to just end it, but maybe the solution would be to let people know that animals and humans are much alike. In the end, we both have hearts.

Jovanna Gonzalez, Weslaco High School

It’s really important that we change the attitudes of this generation. School used to be the main focus, and once years passed students seemed not to care anymore. Most of the students went down a negative path leaving only a few still thrive to become the top 10. When you see other classmates that you used to be "Best friends" with in elementary or middle school and they've totally changed, you wonder what happened that made them so illiterate to change.

Jasmine Galvan, Weslaco High School

I would change the fact that there are many bad people in the world. If there were no bad people then the kids from foreign countries would not be afraid to play outside of their houses by themselves. If there weren’t any bad people, you could go to Mexico with no fear and not have to worry about anybody trying to kidnap you or try to take your vehicle. If there were no bad people like Hitler in the past, the Jews wouldn’t have to be afraid, the African people wouldn’t be afraid of racism.

Donovan Salcedo, Weslaco High School

Our world is already in trouble as it is with all the wars going on all the trouble; I would do lots of things to stop it. First I would change laws so that way people wouldn’t get into a mess like they usually do. I would tell all citizens fighting wouldn’t solve anything to talk it out. We wouldn’t solve anything because at the end you’re just hurting each other and you don’t get anything out of it. Also I would change the law about killing animals because they shouldn’t be killing all these animals just to kill. If you’re going to kill them at least eat them not just throw them away. Our world is really messed up. I’d lock up all those criminals that get away with everything and I’ll make sure I won’t stop looking for them.

Jonathan Martinez, Weslaco High School

Me, personally, I would like to change the way people treat other people. I know that would be a hard thing to do, but it's not impossible. People treat each other so badly with hatred, jealously, bullying, etc. But most people don’t realize that what they do can really hurt someone, or affect them in a negative way. It'd be a hypocritical thing to do if I said I don’t dislike certain people because I do, but I back off and stay way. I’m just a teenage girl with confusing thoughts, waiting on the world to change.

Amy Pedraza, Weslaco High School

Teacher: Jean Bovee

With all the stuff that’s going on in the world the one thing that I would want to change are the bad people that live in the world. Now a days parents don’t let their children play in front of their house because they’re afraid they’re going to get kidnapped from their own home. So many people get home security because they’re afraid that their house will get robbed during the day. The world now is dangerous because of those people, and with people like that the world would be so much safer.

Jason Mcclenahan, Weslaco High School

If I could change one thing about the world it would be teen pregnancy. In today's society teen pregnancy is not a big deal to many people. I believe that it has a major effect on today’s teenagers. They haven't grown up themselves and yet they have to learn how to be a teen parent. I just don't agree with that.

Rulyanne Rodriguez, Weslaco High School

One thing I would like to change is the creation of alcohol; today it is responsible for more than 75,000 U.S. deaths, and for divorces within families. Alcohol is believed to be the main factor for family ties to be broken heck even people use it as an excuse to be violent. Just imagine all of your life is shattered just because of a simple drink which changes you or someone else into an animal, destroying everything else in your path, which is mainly your life and that is too precious to be destroyed by a simple little drink.

David Hernandez III, Weslaco High School

One thing I would like to change about the world is to have less pollution. For the people to stop throwing trash can. And if we do this we can make this world a better place to live in by putting the trash in the trash can. Our grasses would grow healthier and greener. Our oceans would be healthy too and the sea animals would swim freely. Another way of stopping pollution would be by stopping people in throwing chemicals in the water this could harm the sea creatures. So let's take a stand and stop pollution.

I've gone through so much pain and I know how every emotion feels so if there's one thing I'd like to change about our world it would have to be suffering. There's no better feeling like seeing everyone happy.

Monika Garcia, Weslaco High School

The one thing I'd change about our world is the technology. Why the technology? Well because the technology we use today has us brain washed!  Sitting on our butts for hours doing nothing productive just looking at a little screen. It has to change!  It should be like back in the days, where everyone was up and about actually doing something. Where kids in school actually cared to learn instead of not paying attention just caring what others are posting on Twitter or Facebook.

Alexis Arevalo, Weslaco High School

One thing I would like to change about this world is that we should stop using regular cars and start using more Eco friendly cars. Did you know that in the 1980's they made a car that can run on electricity and was way cheaper than a regular car but the completely destroyed it and left no pieces because they didn't want any one to replicate them. They destroyed it because it didn't need any oil change or buy different parts or anything so that it really hurt the economic. If they do this I really think it will help out the world and make it safer, and a cleaner environment. That is the one thing I would change and I'll be happy if they can really do this because I know that it is possible to accomplish.

Luis Ramirez, Weslaco High School

If there's one thing I could change about the world, it would be the minimum wage in America. I would change it to higher pay so the people that earn minimum wage can actually live off of it. With minimum wage stuck at $ 7.25 for about four years while other prices rise doesn't seem fair.

Matthew Lara, Weslaco High School

One thing I would like to change about are world would be to war. I think war is stupid. Yes land is important, but is it that important that you're willing to kill hundreds of life's in trade for that land that you might not win.

If there's one thing that I would change about the world it would be the way people make judgments easily. You can't just judge a person without knowing their story. It's disappointing to know that people judge others by the type of music to their political views. That's what I would change about the world.

Stacey Perez, Weslaco High School

Teacher: Jean Bovee

The one thing I would like to see change in the world is if I could wake up one morning and there would be peace. No fighting, no politics, no arguing. I want to see Koreans shaking hands with the United States and the United States shaking hands with a rival country. I don't see the point in all this war. Teens and even younger kids always ask why we're in war whether it's in a social studies class or just watching the news with our parents. If almost everyone in America from kids to the elderly want war to stop and have our troops home then how hard is it to just say may we have world peace?

Adrienne Vega, Weslaco High School

There are many teens out there who don't know how to respect not only themselves, but also their elders. We see these teens everywhere with their "posses", low pants, tattoos, piercings, bazare makeup, and clothing. Some of these teens and others give the good teens a bad name. If an elder looks at a teen they automatically give a sour disgusted face. We call this a stereotype. Many of us don't want to be stereotyped as a "no good teen". We teens aren't all bad we have hearts and know what R.E.S.P.E.C.T means.

If I could change one thing about our world, it would be the type of music that is listened to. The lyrics and people of today's music are so terrible and such bad influences. I would bring back big bands and swing from the early 1900s, and for parties people would play Sing, Sing, Sing by the Benny Goodman Orchestra. I would also have people listen to music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s when the lyrics were clean, the musicality and artistry were phenomenal, and parents could for the most part trust that their children weren't under a bad influence.

David Vasquez, Weslaco High School

The damage I would take off of this planet would be fast food restaurants. So many people are eating these greasy hamburgers and fries for lunch instead of some boiled chicken breast. More than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%). Obesity conditions can include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer, some of the most known problems of preventable death. Also Obesity affects 17% of all children in the United States which is triple the rate from just one generation ago. This is the reason the U.S. is known to be one of the fattest countries in the world. `

Daniel Lopez, Weslaco High School

Something I would change about the world is gay rights. I believe that gay people are just as equal as straight people. No one has the right to say that gay is not okay because if gay is wrong, I bet I could point out a lot of things that are "wrong" with people. President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, needs a huge reality check. Who is he to say what's right and what's wrong? If I'm not mistaken, he's done some pretty wrong things in his presidency too.

Samantha Sanchez, Weslaco High School

"Be the change you wish to see in the world..." Mahatma Gandhi. As we all know, we're not all perfect, and nor is our world. I believe there are things we can change, just like not fighting and going to war with other countries. I am a strong believer of world peace and I wish I could speak up for my two mother countries which are Mexico and United States and find a way for their wars and drug smuggling to end, so I would change world conflicts and bring peace to everyone.

There's suppose to be an upcoming World War 3. War, I'd like to change that about our world. Because war is never the answer. Everyone knows that; nevertheless, we have to and end up going to do it. But war can't give life; it can only take it away. All war does is cause destruction, lost lives, greed, misery, and tears. Instead of war, why can't there be peace? Why can't there be harmony? Maybe that’s just what the world needs. A change in heart, peace instead of war.

Elisabeth Villareal, Weslaco High School

Teacher: Jean Bovee

There are many things that I would like to change about our world, but the first thing I would change is probably make it to where everything is free, because we live in a world where a price is put on just about everything. I want to live in a world where money is not an issue, where people are more loving, caring, and compassionate and people not

fighting for control and power. I understand that money is a necessity in our society to pay bills and well, survive, but it shouldn't control us, because in the end we won't even take it with us.

Giselle Hernandez, Weslaco High School

Teacher: Jean Bovee

If I could change anything about the world it would be the violence we have in this world. At this moment we might go to war with Syria, they are killing innocent children with nuclear chemicals. The anniversary of 9/11 just passed in memory of all the people that lost their loved ones. In Mexico the drug violence and shootouts that happen are scary and unsafe, and the cartels and gangs or whatever they call them now is unnecessary. These things happen because of power struggle and they say they can control anything they want but in reality they can't. All I want in this world is love and peace where nobody gets hurt and we have our perfect world where we can walk the street without getting shot at and have respect for one another.

Domingo Perez, Weslaco High School

Hatred is one of the things I would like to change about the world. Hatred is the cause of many terrible things. Each year people do many things out of the hatred they have for others. It causes them to do many things that they would not normally do. Hatred is also the cause of terrible atrocities committed by individuals. For example during World War 2 Hitler sent Jews and many others to concentration camps because of his hatred for other races. If it weren’t for hatred then things like that wouldn’t happen.

Maria Morales, Weslaco High School

There are so many changes that, to me, should be made. But the most important one is the way people see each other. I think people should stop judging each other by person’s looks or by the music they hear. Looks aren't everything, personality is. That's what we need to start looking at personalities, not someone’s clothes or money.

Andrea Garces, Weslaco High School

Hi Melody, thanks for leaving such a wonderful comment!

I hear what you’re saying – our actions and energy can make a difference in the world. But I’ve found that all the change in the world has been a direct or indirect result of the change in ourselves.

We can’t try to force the world to change, but we can force ourselves to change.

An example – we have a problem with fox hunting in England, and there have been numerous reports of aggression and sometimes violence between groups of opposing opinion.

Now, if the anti-hunting activists continue to lobby, continue to protest and disrupt planned hunts, they won’t get anywhere. They won’t change the world by force, because the pro-hunting group will resist them and fight back. However, if the fox hunters change themselves and develop more compassion and kindness as a result, then they’ll see the hurt they’re inflicting on the foxes, and stop.

They changed themselves, and so the world was changed as a result.

Hope this helps Melody 🙂
